LAHORE UNIVERSITY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES (LUMS), PAKISTAN

Operating as the Chief Academic officer, the Provost reports directly to the Vice Chancellor and works closely with the Deans of the Suleman Dawood School of Business, the school of Science and Engineering and the School Sciences.

The Provost will be a visionary academic leader, a distinguished scholar, and an able administrator whose work fulfills the University’s mission to support excellence by advancing the frontiers of knowledge through the integration of research, teaching and service to others. The Provost will:

* Provide critical leadership as LUMS transitions to a research university of global repute.

* Strengthen scholarship and research and enable faculty and staff to take their place amongst the world’s distinguished scholars.

* Collaborate in the strategic planning and budgeting of academic programs and academic and research initiatives.

* Help create a diverse student body, which is both international and represents the cross-section of Pakistan’s society, without compromising merit.

* Strengthen the faculty body by attracting, recruiting and retaining highly talented scholars and teachers

* Build on the spirit of critical thinking and inquiry that is central to LUMS’ pedagogical approach.

LUMS is Pakistan’s premier private sector university known for its academic excellence and the quality and impact of its faculty and graduates. Its modern 100 acre campus in the city of Lahore provide s world-class educational and residential facilities. Its three Schools offer graduate and undergraduate education in a wide range of disciplines including science, engineering, social sciences, humanities, law and business administration. It has 2100 undergraduate and graduate students, 35% of whom are women.

The appointment is for a 3-5 year term beginning a mutually agreeable date. Review of applications and nominations will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
